The transition away from fossil-based materials is creating new opportunities for wood-based chemicals, materials and other high-value products. But access to sustainable biomass alone is not enough. The key question is where the next generation of competitive bio-based industries can actually be built.
What does it take to move from promising technology to commercial-scale production? How important are secure and traceable feedstock, competitive energy, technology, policy stability and cooperation between the public and private sectors?
Bringing together perspectives from government, sustainable forest management and global industry, this session will explore what makes a region attractive for the next generation of wood-based industrial investment and whether Northern Europe, including Estonia, can become one of those locations.
Speakers
- H.E. Erkki Keldo, Minister of Energy and Environment (Estonia)
