How to finance a systemic sustainability change? It is obvious that societies need to change and limit their environmental impact massively. It is also true that there is money for individual green projects and ventures. But financing the society-wide transformation is much harder: benefits are spread across many actors, timelines are long, and no single investor owns the outcome. Public budgets cannot carry it alone, and private capital rarely moves first.
Following the session on the Estonian Model for an Economy in Balance, this event brings together Nordic and international perspectives from intergovernmental cooperation, international public finance and impact investment. How does each look at systemic change? What does each need to see before backing a transition rather than a single project? Where do their roles meet, and where they diverge? Please join us in the discussion how systemic sustainability change can be financed.
